San Jaun Sea Star Survey

Students participate in an ongoing research project to survey the diversity and density of sea star populations of the San Juan’s.  We do this by Sea Kayak to enable the student researchers access to shorelines unaccessible by foot.  Through this project students gain valuable research experience while gaining a new skill in Sea Kayaking.   This is a particularly relevant survey as we seek to understand the current trends and causes of our local seastar populations.  Specifically in connection with “Sea Star Wasting Disease”.  A safe, fun way to learn!
